Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is a breathing condition that affects some premature babies. Their lungs may not be fully developed yet, making it difficult for them to take in enough oxygen.
Lack of Surfactant: The main cause of RDS is a lack of surfactant, a substance that coats the lungs and helps them inflate properly.
Symptoms: Signs of RDS may include rapid breathing, grunting sounds, and chest retractions (pulling in of the muscles between the ribs).
Prematurity Risk: RDS is most common in babies born before 37 weeks of pregnancy. The earlier the birth, the higher the risk.

On 18th December we had admitted our baby to Dr.Vijay Mali sir's NICE Advanced Neonatal Care Center And Children's, Kolhapur. NICU. When we admitted the baby was 1700Gm and 32 weeks old. Due to the Modern and Superior NICU and excellent efforts of Dr. Vijay Mali sir and all his skilled staff, our baby's health is excellent and improving day by day. Today is our discharge.
