- Transient Tachypnea of the New born

Transient tachypnea of the new-born (TTN) is a common breathing condition that affects some babies shortly after birth. It typically resolves on its own within a few days and doesn’t require extensive intervention.

Rapid Breathing: New-borns with TTN breathe faster than usual more than 60 breaths per minute.

Short-Lived: This condition usually resolves within the first 1-3 days of life.

Mild Symptoms: Unlike more serious respiratory problems, TTN typically doesn't cause significant distress or require oxygen therapy.

Premature Babies at Risk: While any new-born can experience TTN, its more common in babies born prematurely.

FAQs for Transient Tachypnea of New-born
Transient tachypnea of the new-born is usually a mild condition that resolves on its own within a few days. However, if your baby’s breathing seems particularly laboured or worsens, consult your doctor immediately.
Rapid breathing over 60 breaths per minute is the main symptom of TTN. It occurs because the baby’s lungs haven’t fully absorbed the fluid that was present before birth.
Hospital stays for TTN are typically short, lasting 1-3 days until the baby’s breathing stabilizes.
While TTN often resolves naturally, supportive care like warmth, gentle monitoring, and oxygen supplementation if needed can help your baby breathe comfortably.
Most babies with TTN recover fully and experience no lasting complications.
